Ogan Tools

Ogún is the Orisha of iron, work and the forge, and his tools are part of how he lives with you. This set of herramientas de Ogún is made in stainless steel, so it holds up well over time. You may also see it listed as Ogan tools.

What are Ogún's tools?

Ogún's tools are small iron or metal versions of the instruments he uses to clear the way and work: things like a machete, a shovel, a hoe, a pick and other farming and blacksmith tools. They are placed inside his pot (caldero) as part of his fundamento, alongside the Warriors Elegguá, Ochosi and Osun.

Why stainless steel?

Traditional iron tools rust quickly, especially in a humid place like Miami. Stainless steel keeps its shape and finish much longer, which is why many practitioners prefer it when replacing or completing their set.

Who is this set for?

• People receiving the Warriors: the tools are part of what goes into Ogún's pot.
• Godparents preparing a set: a clean, complete set saves time when putting things together for a godchild.
• Replacing old tools: if yours have rusted or gone missing, this is a simple replacement.

Ogún is consecrated by your godparent or babalawo. These tools are the supplies; the ceremony is theirs.

Why buy it from El Viejo Lázaro?
