This sopera is made to hold Olokun, the Orisha who lives at the bottom of the ocean. At about 10 by 18 inches, it's a generous size that gives his fundamento the space and respect it deserves.
Who is Olokun and why does he need a sopera?
Olokun is the owner of the deep sea, the mysteries and the riches hidden beneath the waves. He's closely connected with Yemayá but rules the depths where no light reaches. In Lucumí practice his fundamento is kept inside a covered vessel, and many houses use a sopera for him.
What size is it?
This sopera measures approximately 10 by 18 inches. Check your space before ordering, since Olokun's vessel is usually kept on the floor or a low place in many houses.
Why buy your sopera from El Viejo Lázaro?
We've helped Miami's religious community set up their Orishas since 2003, under the guidance of Oba Oriate Nelson Hernández. If you're preparing for a Kariocha or replacing a sopera, you can visit our store at 5800 W Flagler St to see it in person, or order online and we'll pack it carefully for shipping.
