Espanta Muerto Herbs AberiKunlo

Espanta Muerto, known in Lucumí as ewe aberikunlo, is the herb practitioners use to send away restless spirits and the heavy feeling they leave behind. If your home feels off, your sleep is disturbed or you feel like something is following you, this is a classic herb for a cleansing. Each order is one fresh bunch.

What is Espanta Muerto used for?

Espanta Muerto, or aberikunlo, is used in despojos and spiritual baths to drive away unwanted spirits of the dead, called eggun, and the negative energy around them. The name literally means "scares off the dead."

How do people use it?

• Despojo bath: the leaves are torn into water and used to cleanse the body, usually from the neck down.
• Home cleansing: the water is used to wash floors, corners and doorways where heavy energy collects.
• Limpieza: the bunch is passed over the body and then discarded away from the house.

Work with the dead is serious, so follow the guidance of your godparent, an olorisha or your espiritista for anything beyond a basic cleansing.
