San Lázaro is the saint our store is named after, so his statues have a special place here. This medium San Lázaro is made in resin and stands about 24 inches tall, a strong size for a home altar.
Who is San Lázaro?
San Lázaro is the beloved saint of the sick and the poor, shown with his crutches and the dogs who stay by his side. In Cuban tradition he's syncretized with Babalú Ayé, the Orisha of health and healing. Devotees around the world honor him on December 17, and many make promises to him when they ask for help with their health.
Why choose a 24 inch statue?
- Presence on the altar: at about 24 inches, he's large enough to be the center of a home altar.
- Durable resin: resin holds detail well and is lighter than plaster or stone.
- A meaningful gift: it's a popular choice for anyone devoted to San Lázaro or Babalú Ayé.
